I had significant fluctuation in oil pressure depending on rpms. Since I had other reasons to remove the oil pan, I figured I would try a new oil pump. The old did not seem to be clogged so I can only assume that the pump does tire over time because the new pump is providing me with great and consistent numbers. I cannot speak to the life expectancy but I know when the numbers fall, I'll be changing it out.
