The Jeep is a full frame off restoration. It started as a one owner jeep from Maine. I purchased it in October of 2007 and started work on it in May of 2008. I have included some pictures of what it looked like when I started the project. Then I purchased a complete rust free frame from another 1986 CJ-7 and a rust free steel body (see pictures). Then I started the stripping process and having the frame coated and body stripped down to paint. Once this was done this is the finished frame, engine, transmission, and axles (dana 44 rear and dana 35 front) Dana 300 transfer case, T5 transmission, and inline 6 258 engine. Once the frame was done the body was stripped and then epoxy primed and then the entire under side, firewall, fender wells, inside the engine bay, and inside of the entire tub was sprayed with spray in bed liner. Finally, we painted everything with Mercedes Iridium Silver and then clear coated. Once it was painted the entire body was wet sanded and buffed to a mirror shine! After months of replacing every part from top to bottom. I have a finished project. The project took me from start to finish about 8 months total. This was truly one of the best projects that I have ever decided to do. I obviously went to the extreme on every aspect of this project but wanted what I could not have when I started a new 1986 CJ-7 in 2008.
If you would like any other photos or more information as to the products that went into this project I would be more than willing to give you every spec on it. The entire interior was replace with best top trail max seats both front and rear, trailmax pro console, roll bar pads, soft top, seat belts, and strapless bikini. The jeep also has the factory hard top and hard doors. The stereo is JVC with ipod controls and the speakers are Sony. All new gauges (factory), completely rewired with new factory engine and dash harness. The tires are 33x12.50x15 Procomp Extreme MT on 15x10 Crager Soft chrome wheels with a full size spare. The front and rear bumpers are LOD with Warn D rings. I lifted the Jeep 4 inches and did all of this work myself with the help of 3 friends. Like they told me before I started this project JEEP stood for just empty every pocket. I have proved that concept can become a reality! Ha ha…
Hope you enjoy it and please post this on your Readers Rig section.
