Reviews for Fox® Racing Shox 985-24-173 Performance Series 2.0 Smooth Body IFP Steering Stabilizer for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
yes it does fit the jl lol ***** imho way better than stock on my 2018 jl
Great product. Just put it on my 2018 Jeep JL . After I had my Jeep dealer install the 2" Mopar lift last month the Jeep would go a little wobbly at every bump in the road. This fixed it. Installed it in just minutes.
It's Available and I need it.
Im running 37s and thought this would be a great addition. I wasnt unhappy with the factory stabilizer, and this one is better, but it wont blow your mind. its a little stiffer at speed and you wont notice a difference in the driveway. Im not knocking FOX because they make great stuff, but if your looking for serious performance, step up to the race version and let me know.
First, the good: Stabilizer works as advertised once installed. Definitely an improvement over the stock stabilizer and reasonably priced. The bad: If you have a later model 21' JL, you can't install it without buying a different carriage bolt for the tie rod side attachment point. The problem is that the stock 2021 bolt has an unusually long index shoulder that won't fit through the stabilizer bushing. You need to buy Mopar part# 6510774AA. This part is a more normal style, indexed carriage bolt that came on older the older model JL A quick call to my local dealer, and $3.00 later, I had the older style carriage bolt and the install was simple from there, but it would have been nice to know about this issue beforehand.
Unexpected fitment issue: The factory carriage bolt on the 2021 JL Unlimited Rubicon (3.0L EcoTec) does not fit! The square shoulder of the bolt extends to a mid-point in the factory stabilizer and is not compatible with 985-24-173. I had to source my own bolt and nut for the outboard mounting point. Not the end of the world, but unexpected. Otherwise, as always, Quadratec shipped fast. This steering stabilizer is well finished and appears durable. It’s performance has been as expected so far on highway.
Good but was expecting a bigger difference. Super easy install. Will take 10 minutes with basic hand tools.
Looks good, works good. Not a big difference from stock but perhaps a little smoother bumps. Installs very easy with only two bolts and maybe 10 minutes of time.
Not sure if its because my jlu sport isnt lifted at the moment but i put on 295-70-18’s toyo. And figured id change this right after and the steering is reaaally heavy like a major difference it is a bit longer then the oem one. And i feel my steering wheel move more with bumps then before. Put the oem one back but have hope itll work better once i lift it. Lol
Installed this on a brand new 2021 Gladiator Sport and as others have reported, it pulls the Jeep hard to the right. I tried the steering wheel lock-to-lock method a few times right after installation and it still pulled right. Even took the stabilizer off of the Jeep and primed it by hand 5 times by compressing it fully and letting it extend naturally. Re-installed the stabilizer and it still pulls the Jeep to the right. Installed the factory stabilizer back on it and and the pull is gone. Build quality and looks are great but design is flawed.
