Reviews for Bestop TrailMax II Sport Front Seats in Vinyl for 76-06 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7, CJ-8 Scrambler, Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited
They look and feel awesome! If you use a metal punch/ screw driver to line up the holes during the assembly it makes it a lot easier.
These seats look great. The only downside to them was the assembly. It took me and another person a good hour to put the backs on the seats. The padding butts up together so much that you have to be pushing hard to get the holes to hope to line up. On one side we would get the holes to line up alright and put one bolt in to hold that side, and then the other side we would have to fight with to line up. Add on top of this that the holes in the vinyl didn’t line up with the holes in the frame on one side of each of the seats. It was very frustrating.
I recommend getting a screwdriver that you can put through the hole of the frame and then the hole on the seat so you can kind of pry it into lining up. Then you can have someone hold it with force while you take the screwdriver out and put a bolt in. Another thing is that we had to use a clamp to pull the frame closer once we hade one side in because the bolts weren’t long enough to touch the threads without squeezing the frame pieces together.
Maybe this is normal for seat installs, I’m not sure. This is the first time I have done interior work. They look great though and feel like good quality, so overall I am happy with the purchase. It was just a bit frustrating to assemble.
Great & comfortable seats. Definitely a nice upgrade. I give it 4 stars because in order to recline or shift the seats forward, one must turn the knobs located on the sides, which can be somewhat of a hassle.
Great seats super comfortable.. The only issue I have is the seat sits higher than the original approximately 2" so I have to sit further back now, or purchase a tilt steering wheel....
Great seats. Very comfortable. A small hassle with attaching the back, the vinyl wants to block the holes for the bolts. A few extra minutes and their together. would buy them again.
Don't recommend with stock brackets, these sits sit very high. There is only about 6 inches between bottom of steering wheel and seat.. Luckily I lost 25 lbs before I got these seats because if you're chubby, you're not fitting in. Also, I'm only 5'1 and can't push the clutch all the way down any longer. I just bought some corbeau brackets to replace the stock ones..the review said they sit 2 inches lower than stock. It's worth a try because they are very comfortable, firm, and good looking seats.
Nice looking seats but disappointed in the install quality. Had to cut the vinyl on the seats to get to the pre-drilled holes, then had to re-drill the new seats supports I bought as those holes didn't line up either.
Buyer beware. Seats should never be installed in a Jeep CJ. Bought seats expecting a bolt on replacement. Not only do you need to remove all stock Jeep sliders/brackets but sits too high for a normal person to drive. Talked to company and they where no help at all.
