Reviews for Bestop Supertop NX Twill Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
Good top. Love the twill fabric. Easy install by myself following the videos but it does take time.
Like another reviewer, I was getting fabric sag into the rear seat in Sunrider. This isn't an issue with the Supertop though just with me! I was simply pushing open the top into the Sunrider position without managing the fabric. I quickly discovered that you are supposed to pull the fabric behind the bars (over the trunk) as you open the Sunrider and this eliminates the fabric sag in Sunrider position and streamlines the look.
Highly recommend it. Quality is outstanding. Installation wasn’t too bad either.
I purchased the Bestop Supertop NX Twill soft top for my 2017 Sahara Unlimited 4 door and it is awesome! The quality, style, color and fit makes the purchase worth every penny. I am 5'2" and I can fold the top back or put the top all the way down without assistance by standing on the running boards. I would highly recommend this top!
The look
Have one for our 2011 Wrangler and love it. Just purchased our Rubicon and right away ordered this top!
Liked that I could get a color other than black
The only reason Im giving this 4 stars is because the instructions are not clear at all. We had to pull up a video on YouTube to help us install it all. It took us 4.5-5 hours to complete it. One person can take put the top down but it definitely works better with 2 people. The top was hard to latch but once it was latched 24 hours it was easier to do. I'm pretty happy with this product over all and thankfully no leaks. We've had 3 straight days of nonstop heavy rain and no water has gotten it. It is pretty quiet compared to other soft tops.
Rugged
This is a very good product and not difficult to do on your own. I was replacing the factory soft top on a 2014 JKU because the windows weren’t zipping anymore and it was very worn (Florida). A few suggestions building on others’ comments. First, if you’re removing your old soft top, allow another 45 min or hour for that. There are a couple helpful vids on this, including from our friends here at Q: https://youtu.be/qlv6RVWlZRM
For the actual install, this video was helpful: https://youtu.be/A867SmzXtPc
I watched the videos before I began and didn’t need to refer back during the install as the written instructions are pretty good and the visual helped with big picture.
Regarding the comments of breaking the self-tapping screws, based on the comments I used WD40 on the screws and holes and had no problems once I did that. Highly recommend that.
The most tedious part is screwing the new top to the support bars. I agree it’s best to do it with the top on as opposed to trying to assemble it all in the ground first.
Only needed one occasional helper to lift and position the top to the Jeep. Otherwise, it was not too tough at all just tedious with screwing the material to the bars.
I did struggle to get it latched the first time even in the Florida sun. But a little wrangling got it done and it looks great and seems superior to the factory.
Only real complaints: (1) zipper still a little tough to zip. We can put rovers with drones on Mars but can’t solve zippers on the best vehicle ever made (2) don’t care for the BestTop promo on the back. The product is good enough that’s people will ask without having to splash American Eagle across the front of the sweatshirt.
Otherwise, killer product and super helpful comments below and guidance from the Q as always. Thank you!
Very nice top. I bought it to replace my factory soft top on my 2012 JKU, which had worn. Installation was a lot of work, but watching videos first helped, as did having the factory top and knowing how a soft top works. It generally went OK. I had the same problems others had. I broke a screw attaching the strap to the bow. I had to drill it out, then tried another and broke a second. Off to the hardware store. I hand tightened all the screws up to that point to avoid this, but I could not get those to screw in by hand and resorted to the power driver - the holes are just a little too small in the bow. Then I did what someone else mentioned, I installed bow #3 upside down. Of course that's what the straps attach to - had to unscrew all 10 of those screws, including the one that broke before, turn, and re-attach. And the last 5 screws on the front bow was a real bear to reach. I installed it a day before tropical storm Isaias came through with 8 inches of rain. Got a bunch of water in on the passenger side. The driver's side was fine. The factory top never leaked. I took a look and the door surround was filled with water - it looks like the fabric was shifted on the passenger side. I stretched it over to even it out and didn't get any leaks the next rain. Fingers crossed. All in all, a nice looking top, though I could do without the yellow Bestop emblem on the rear window… I paid enough for this, I don't need to advertise for them too.
