Reviews for QuadraTop Adventure Top S Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited 4-Door
The Adventure S Top is a good summer option if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the standard Jeep soft tops. I prefer the fastback look to the stacked accordion of the fold down tops. Installation takes a lot of time, but it was not frustrating or difficult.
Pros:
* The fliptop sunroof works great and the addition of a small metal retainer clip solves the problem that some had with the top catching air at high speeds.
* With side windows removed and rear window out or rolled up, it's just like a bimini.
* No leaks so far
Cons:
*Despite Quadratec's claims, you can't remove or roll up the rear window unless you remove the side windows. If the side windows are not zippered to the back window there is nothing to prevent them from sliding outward. We lost a corner insert on the highway due to this (Quadratec promptly replaced it).
*The fit is not perfect, the piece that overlaps the rear doors never sits right and it takes a lot of fiddling with zippers and snaps multiple times to reinstall rear and side windows. Okay for in the driveway on a hot day when things are loose, but would be tough to accomplish in a sudden rain storm. I just leave them off most of the time and park in garage.
Went on easy enough even hungover. But I've only taken the window panels out twice and the back window zippers are torn and the stitching is coming undone. Looks cool but not as sturdy as I hoped.
I really like the look of the top and the convenience of the sunroof. Still have alot of difficulty aligning the back window. The strain also causes the right side to pull away from the frame.
I'd say my rating is more like a 3.5. Let me start off by saying though that it looks pretty bad ass. I love it. BUT.....As you can see in the pictures, there are a couple of flaws. The first thing is that it is hard as hell to get on. You will definitely need a second person to help you get it on. I almost feel like it could have been made with another inch on either side, specifically the back window.
Secondly, one window fails to stay tucked in to the door frame. I've removed and replaced several times and it continues to come untucked.
Lastly, the door frame on the drivers side doesn't lay properly. When initially installed, it would not allow the back door to shut. I had to wedge a piece of cardboard in between the frame and body so the frame would sit properly and allow the door to shut.
You might be asking, "why not return it?"
Did I mention it's a pain in the ass to put on??
Did I also mention that it's bad ass?
I don't want to do it all over again. I'll deal. But for those contemplating, these are the issues I had.
I still don't regret the purchase.
Well just took a trip with my jeep and it was windy which I expected it to be . I do like the top easy for me to use but there was a lot of hardware involved versus the one I had for my two door. So taking it off and on for summer and winter is a task.
Top fit okay. The main issue is the tail gate bar. Ours is shaped like a banana so it does seal on the gasket. There's a 1/2" gap in the middle so we have to make sure we don't have any water sensitive items in the trunk when it rains. Also the tail gate gasket has a sharp metal spine that protrudes from the rubber on both ends. My family keeps slicing themselves on it.
I'd give the top a 5 star review if the instruction manual was written step by step and not 2 steps forward and 1 step back!!! The instructions were mainly suggestions to get you more familiar with the parts! I'm a mechanic, I can read diagrams and I know how to do things thank goodness cus your pretty much on your own with somethings. For $700, this fine top should come preassembled as far as possible.
Granted you can't have the entire top down due to the easy access flip down front section, which I've come to terms with. The issue I'm having is rather serious - if the wind is just right, the front section will actually lift up like a sail. Pretty dangerous on the interstate. It just happened to me going 45mph - scary. I'm trying to figure out a way to strap the top down while in the open position to avoid this. If anyone else has had this problem, I'm curious how you have handled this.
This is not a soft top that can be "open-air". I specifically asked the Customer Service rep multiple times and he/she kept "yes, it can be open air". Very very frustrating. All together its a good looking top, and not a lot of noise. Although a couple of pieces that hold the back window on have already broken due to very cheap plastic. The back windows also will not completely velcro together, i had it in the sun for a few days and tried to "stretch" it, and to no avail. I would spend more money and get some better if I was able to re-do my purchase.
I purchased and installed the top. The install was easy. I love the top except where it seals at the rear of the doors, and the fitment at the windshield header. I literally have a half-inch gap where it is suppose to seal at the door supports, and one side of the top at the header passenger side hangs over one side another half-inch. Now, this may be partly the worn door seals, but it certainly doesn't make for a half-inch gap. There is no adjustment without re-drilling new holes in the door supports and custom-fitting the top. I love the features, just not the fitment.
