Does the tachometer and gauges register different colors for overage i.e. green turns to red etc?
No, they do not.

Why would this not work for 1991 wrangler yj? Description says 92-95 is there a difference with the 1991?
Instrument panel wiring and the signals sent are completely different 87-91 vs 92-95, so the gauge panel is not compatible with 87-91 year ranges. Sorry for the inconvenience.
