The HD Pivot Rear Tire Carrier by Smittybilt fits Jeep Wrangler JL and Wrangler Unlimited JL 4-door vehicles. It is built from very strong monocoque aluminum which helps to eliminate tailgate sag. This Tire carrier works with the OE factory bumper and fits up to a 40" spare tire, and increases load carrying capacity to 135 lbs. Single, reinforced hinge plates replace the factory hinges on the tub and tailgate. Third brake light and back up camera provisions are included. A Fully customizable tire mount can be fine-tuned for height or backspace, and the adjustable tilt allows you to get extra ground clearance when working in tandem with an open or slanted top. The Pivot feature maintains the easy single action of opening and closing of the tailgate. No drilling is required for installation.

Easy assembly, Very sturdy, Holds my 37x12.50 Spare Tire very well. Instructions
that were included were so so, But some great videos out there of instals.
Great tire carrier although it is great some of the instruction aren’t very clear on how to install. Here are some pointers.
-When removing the Camera from the OEM housing removing all bolt and torque screws. And using a hammer and a screw driver with the camera housing facing up, tap on the torque screw hole until the camera falls down.
The instructions say to use a heat gun to remove the camera but that doesn’t work. The housing is held down with clamping force.
- The SB7743 didn’t come with a license relocation bracket.
What I did was using one of the kit parts that come including with the kit that mounts the third brake
Then made a hole on the part that hold the spare tire and mounted so that the third rake light stays behind the tire. This allows me to use the same lug nuts that come from the factory and keep the third brake light behind. (I’ll leave a photo in this review)
Overall this tire carrier was easy to install. Give yourself about 4 hours to figure out everything out.
I really like the carrier, seems rugged and well made. Fairly easy install. However I bought this particular carrier because the sell a trail jack mount for it. The trail jack mount sucks. Jack hits tail light when opened all the way and one of the bolts actually hits the sheet metal just above tail light, and lip is too small so you have to take base plate off jack. The “JK version “ of this carrier and trail jack mount was much better.
