Reviews for TACTIK 12011.0102 Cast Aluminum Differential Cover for Dana 44 Axle Assemblies
Whats nice about these, are they have drain plugs, plus fill and level check...
Looks great and is built tough. Would rather have a weep hole instead of a dipstick. Other then that great design.
Nice cover like the drain plug feature and used lubelocker gasket Had the same issue with supplied bolts I read about so I torqued with a preload at 20 ft lbs third bolt broke. The supplied bolts were marked like a grade 8 get grade 8 before you start
Lightweight and durable with an easy installation. I recommend putting some Teflon tape around the Allen bolt dip stick to prevent some minor seepage.
Overall this is a very nice differential cover. I used this cover with the Lubelocker Gasket. The only suggestion I would make is to NOT use the supplied 5/16-18 Flange Bolts. They WILL NOT support the recommended 30 ft-lbs listed in the installation guide. The first one I torqued down broke. Get some good Grade 8 flange bolts before installing. Also, filling the oil is a bit of a challenge. You have to remove the long Dipstick Bolt several times to check the level. It's not a big deal, but it is a bit of a hassle.
Dont get me wrong this is a tough diff cover but the first time out I drug the bottom bolt across a rock. This caused it to leak and tore it up enough not to get a socket on it. Great for easy maintenance but not so great for the rocks.
